Rick Barnard is the owner and photographer of "Visions of Nature," the photographic gallery located on the web at rickbarnardphotography.com. He photographs the natural world to capture fresh images of waterfalls, rivers, mountains and deserts. He looks for strong leading lines and compelling compositions that offer a unique perspective of the iconic vistas of the mid-South and American West. The Smoky Mountains, Shenandoah and the dramatic Utah deserts are among his favorite locales.
“My goal is to create innovative images reflective of the way I feel about the world around me," he said. "Amid the rush and stress of everyday life, we sometimes overlook the beauty on this great Earth. I want to photograph it."
Rick's work has been juried into many photographic exhibits including Nature Visions Photography Expo, Fairfax, VA and Focal Point, the national photo competition sponsored by the Maryland Federation of Art. In 2012, his photographs were exhibited at Gallery Ten Ninety One, Cordova, TN, the Lucius E. and Elsie C. Burch Jr. Library, Collierville, TN, and the Bartlett Performing Arts and Conference Center, Bartlett, TN. In December 2012, Rick was named "Photographer of the Year" by the Memphis Camera Club. In Spring 2013, the Germantown Performing Arts Centre, Germantown, TN, hosted an exhibition of 40 of his prints. In winter 2014, the Beverly and Sam Ross Gallery, Christian Brothers University, Memphis, TN, will present an exhibition of Rick's fine art prints.
